Joanna Manusov

Obituary of Joanna Bryn Manusov

Joanna Bryn Manusov, 48, of Philadelphia passed away peacefully on Friday, May 14, 2021 alongside her devoted parents at the Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia. She was born in Brooklyn, came to New Jersey in 1984 with her parents, had lived in the Riviera for 10 years, and then moved in to the Inglis House, Philadelphia. Joanna was disabled by Dystonia, losing the use of her voice and hands, but never her light. She found pleasure in everything and lived life as best she could. Joanna was as sharp as a tack and was best known for her kind heart, warm smile, and her strength. She received awards from the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation (DMRF) for her mentoring and for her awareness and fundraising work. Joanna founded Dogs for Dystonia, a dog walk that spread throughout the country and support groups are still having dog walks for the benefit of the DMRF. She went to Washington every year with her parents to meet with our Representatives to advocate for funding of medical research. Joanna was loved by everyone and will be missed by all who had the honor of meeting her. In Joanna’s words, “When I make a friend, I never let them go.”

She leaves behind to mourn her loss, her beloved parents, Janice And Len Nachbar; a brother, Jeffrey Nachbar and his wife, Lisa of Northfield, CT; a sister Lisa Fero and her husband, Howard of Trumbull, CT; nieces and nephews, Ben Fero, Zac Fero, Saige Fero, Chloe Nachbar, and Corey Nachbar; uncles, Harvey Eisenberg and his wife, Carol, and Isaac Nachbar and his wife, Debbie; aunt, Gregg and her husband, Marty; cousins, Emma, David, Yael, Dovie, and Andrew; and canine children, Nicky and Princess.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at 12:00 PM.
