Obituary of Althea J. Allen

Althea J. Allen, 87, of Farmingdale passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Imperial Healthcare Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Neptune.  Althea was born Neptune and raised in Manasquan, New Jersey.  Along with her family, she moved to North Carolina during her high school years and then to Florida as a young adult.  Althea had lived in Delray Beach, Florida and Boynton Beach, Florida before returning to New Jersey in 2017 to live with her niece.  She was an avid reader of fiction, an excellent cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends.  Althea was a woman of faith and could be found teaching Sunday school or leading bible study at her church.  She was a devoted wife of 56 years, loving sister, and adoring aunt.

Althea was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Allen in 2011; three brothers, Nathan L. McHenry, Jr., Richard C. McHenry, and Robert B. McHenry; and her parents, Nathan L McHenry, Sr. and Elizabeth Jackson McHenry.  She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Matthews of Farmingdale and numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
