Obituary of Joan Anne Zyskowski
Joan Anne Zyskowski of Freehold passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at home. Joan was born in New York City and raised in North Jersey. She had lived in Hazlet and Tinton Falls before moving to Freehold in 2005. Joan retired after 15 dedicated years as a confidential executive secretary at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft in 2005. She was active in the Surry Downs Community and at the Freehold Township Senior Center. Joan enjoyed the art of shopping on QVC and the Home Shopping Network. She cherished getting her nails and hair done every week and took great pleasure in eating out, especially a lobster diner. Joan worshiped the sun and relished in her time on the beach in Avon-by-the-Sea. She adored her family and friends and loved spending time with them. Most of all, Joan was a loving mother and adoring “Nana”.
Joan is survived by her three children, Michael Zyskowski and his wife, Lisa of Freehold, Laura Presti and her husband, Jerry of Jackson, Joseph Zyskowski and his wife, Kelly of Toms River; five grandchildren, Shaye, Ryan, Lily, Kaylee, and Ashley Elizabeth; a brother, Harold Spitzfaden and his wife, MaryEllen of New Canaan, CT; a sister, Nancy Herold and her husband, Artie of Glastonbury, CT; and her nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. For the safety of the public and our staff, we are asking everyone to help us adhere to the New Jersey State guidelines. Facemasks will be required. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 9:00 AM for the procession to her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.
