Obituary of Yelizaveta Sanzhikova
Yelizaveta Sanzhikova, 81, of Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at NYC Health and Hospitals/Coney Island, Brooklyn. She was born in the Republic of Kalmykia, Russia, grew up as an orphan in Siberia, and came to the United States to settle to Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. Dancing was Yelizaveta’s passion which led to her career as a professional dancer for Ensemble “Tulip”. She was fluent in native, classic, proper, ballet, and every dance in between. Yelizaveta thoroughly enjoyed crocheting, was always cooking for everyone, and making sure everyone was fed. She was a member of Ensemble Tulip, a choreographic college in Elista, Russia, and of Rashi Gemplil-Ling Buddhist Temple. Yelizaveta had a hard but amazing journey, and nothing could keep her from smiling.
She was predeceased by her son, Mingiyan Sanzhikov; and her daughter-in-law, Silmah Sazhikova. Yelizaveta is survived by her children, Oleg Sanzhikov of Jackson, and Jangar of Elista, Russia; and two granddaughters, Delghir and Sahin Gerel.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:00 AM funeral service at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, June 2, 2021. Interment will follow in St. Vladimir’s Russian Orthodox Cemetery, 316 Cassville Road, Jackson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Yelizaveta’s name may be made to Rashi Gempil-Ling Buddhist Temple, 47 East 5th Street, Howell Township 07731.
