Obituary of Maria C. Yulan
It is with an overwhelming sense of sorrow that the Yulan family informs one and all of the loss of their matriarch, Maria C. Yulan. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday morning, June 5, 2021.
Maria was a dedicated mother first and foremost, and then some. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as “Abuelita”. She had an engaging personality and always made people around her feel positive and optimistic. She made and left friends everywhere she went.
Maria was born in Alausi, Ecuador and came to the United States in 1968 settling in Bayside, Queens. She had lived in New York City, Rosedale, Queens, Howell, NJ, Houston, TX before settling in Rego Park, Queens in 2019. Maria worked as a seamstress for the I.L.G.W.U. in Brooklyn and New York City. Early in her career she worked as a consular administrator for several foreign delegations. Lastly, Maria also served in the leather goods industry at Varon Handbags, in New York City.
Maria was the loving and devoted wife of Juan E. Yulan, who passed in 2009. She is survived by her children, Jose Yulan and his wife, Nancy of Farmingdale, Angel Yulan and his wife, Carolina of Rego Park, Queens, and Cesar Yulan and his wife, Susan of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Stephanie Yulan-Delaney and her husband, Jared, Jennifer Yulan and her fiancé, Dr. Andre Freire, Nicholas Yulan and his fiance, Alexis Richards, and Allyson Sofia Yulan; and a great grandson, Leo Delaney.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM & 7:00 to 8:30 PM with her funeral service to follow at 8:30 PM.
