Obituary of Valerie Ann Castronova-Cox

Valerie Ann Castronova-Cox, 36, of Jackson passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Leisure Chateau in Lakewood. She was born in Long Branch, raised in Florida, Howell, and Jackson. She worked alongside her Godmother at GST Transport as a bus aide for two years.  Valerie was always willing to give and do for others growing up she came in second place for the American Cancer Society Little Miss. Daffodil contest in 1990, Val dedicated her time to her community as a brownie and girl scout. Valerie attended school in Howell and Jackson and graduated with honors from Central High School in Brooksville Florida in 2010. She was truly talented in many ways and enjoyed dancing and would perform in every dance recital when she was a little girl, she danced at the Dance Den in Howell for over 10 years, A talented Pianist she won 1st place in the girls recital. A lover of Disney, Valerie enjoyed collecting Disney Movies and Ornaments and always would look forward to her yearly Disney trips.  Valerie loved her Paternal grandparents and would look forward to their visits she loved her Grandmother Carols meatballs but would always pick the raisins out, She was smitten with the cute nicknames that grandpa “Happy” would call her such as “Moose”, she always appreciated their thoughtful ways. At the age of 17 she lost her mother Tammy to Huntington’s disease and at the age of 28 Valerie was diagnosed with the gene and at the age of 29 officially diagnosed with Huntington’s disease, although she was sick, she never let this disease get the best of her, she always kept her smile and her beautiful sense of humor. Valerie attended school in Howell and Jackson, She graduated with honors from Central High School, Brooksville Florida in 2002.

She is predeceased by her mother, Tammy Kennedy in 2003; She is survived by her beloved God parents who took care of her until her passing, John and Charleen Cox of Jackson; Father Dominic and his wife Terry Castronova of Howell; Siblings Kimberly Kennedy of Ohio and Stephanie Suttors of Howell; Maternal Grandparents, George and Janet Burroughs of Jackson; Paternal Grandparents Dominic and Carol Castronova of Freehold; Numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins; Two Best Friends, Justin Miller and Lauren Farrell.

The family would like to take the time to thank the staff at Leisure Chateau for the exceptional and dignified care they provided to Valerie, they will be forever thankful to you all, especially the Florida unit.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 4:00-7:30 PM with her funeral service to follow. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home for the procession to her 11:00 AM graveside service at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, 299 Freehold-Englishtown Road, Freehold, NJ 07728.
