Obituary of Herbert Schwartz

Herbert Schwartz, 89, of Jackson passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021. He was born and raised in New York City, lived the next 40 years in Spring Valley, NY, then settled in Jackson 12 years ago. Herbert honorably served in the United States Army and worked as a teacher of the industrial arts. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading the newspaper or watching his favorite show Dr. Oz. Herbert could often be found going to garage sales, thrift shops, or flea markets looking for things to buy for his family. He loved going to the beach at the Jersey Shore.  Herbert was a big fan of going to local diners and loved his meals on wheels deliveries. A true scholar, he had a passion for going to lectures and classes anywhere he could.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Harriet Schwartz. Herbert is survived by his children, Michael Schwartz and his wife, Maria of Bordentown, NJ, Amy Schwartz and her husband, Bill Gudenrath of Corning, NY, and Debra Schwartz and her husband, Tim Givens of Montclair, NJ; grandchildren, Matthew Schwartz and his wife, Marilyn, Sophia Gudenrath and her boyfriend, Jared, Owen Gudenrath, Allegra Givens and her boyfriend, Matt, and Lilah Givens; former daughter-in-law, Denise Schwatz; and girlfriend, Rose DiDonato.
