Obituary of Joan Regina Meinster

Joan Regina Meinster, 79, of Jackson passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 12, 2021.  An only child born to Alexander and Rose Liss, she was raised and had lived in Queens, NY before moving to Freehold Township in 1971 to raise her family.  Joan was a learning specialist and consultant at St. Rose of Lima School in Freehold and in the Ocean Township School System, before finishing her career working in the Perth Amboy School District for over 20 years.  Joanie was a strong, resilient gracious woman who gave a tremendous amount of thought to living out her many roles. Joan fought back from the many challenges that life presented.  She always had a goal, a dream, a vision, and then made the plans to achieve them.  Every gift she gave and every card she bought were well thought out and came from the heart.  Joan loved collecting significant souvenirs from the many countries she traveled across the world. Her greatest passion was her family and friends, and the time she spent with them.  

Joan was predeceased by her parents; and her former husband, Morris “Moe” Meinster.  She is survived by her loving children, Alan Meinster and his wife, Denise of New Hope, PA, Larry Meinster and his wife, Mary of Seminole, FL, and Eric Meinster and his wife, Jeanine of Freehold Township; adoring grandchildren, Julia, Grace, Alex, Joel, Tori, Lizzy, Joey, Amanda and Lexi; and her companion of twelve years, Wayne Sager and his two daughters, Kelly and Kristen and their families. 

The Meinsters want to take this opportunity to thank Joan’s caregivers, Diana Lee, Donna Quanvie and Juliette Parchment, as they cared for her as if she were family. 

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, August 16, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM with her funeral service to follow.  Interment will be in the Freehold Hebrew Benefit Society, Freehold.   In compliance with the Jewish tradition, please do not send floral arrangements.
