Obituary of James W. Rauh

James W. Rauh, 70, of Howell passed away at home on Sunday, August 15, 2021.  He was born in Elizabeth, raised in Edison and had lived in Avenel.  After proudly serving in the United States Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal during the Vietnam War, he traveled to New Zealand, Hawaii, California and many other states.  He was part owner of William Rauh & Son, Inc. in Elizabeth for over 30 years until retiring in 2009.  An active member of Christ Church in Howell, James was also a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 12, and had served as treasurer for Rugged Cross Motorcycle Club.  His favorite pastime was to go camping with family and friends.  He was always there for everyone, and it seemed everyone knew him.  If you were lucky enough to know James, you loved him. 

He was predeceased by his father, Oliver Rauh.  James is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Ellen Rauh of Howell; children, Jake Rauh and Hayley Rauh, both of Howell; mother, Eileen Rauh of Lakewood; brother, Bill Rauh of Edison; and many loving extended family members and friends. 

A memorial gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, August 22, 2021 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at Christ Church, 71 Oak Glen Road, Howell on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 12:30 PM.  Burial of ashes will follow in Brigadier General William.
