Obituary of Daniel Rotunno
Daniel R. Rotunno, Sr., 88, of Freehold Township, passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Danny was born and raised in Elizabeth and had lived in Union, Toms River and Barnegat before moving to Freehold Township. He was a US Army Air Force Veteran during WW II serving in the Pacific Theater. Danny retired as a deli manager for Supermarkets General/Pathmark in Elizabeth after 30 years of service in 1986. Prior to that, he was a draftsman for Allen's Engineering Firm, Newark. Danny was a long time parishioner of St. Genevieve Parish, Elizabeth, and also a life member of the Holy Name Society at the church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Elizabeth Council 253. Danny was so much loved by his family, friends and co-workers. He was a devoted Giants and Yankees fan and was an avid bowler in many leagues in Toms River. Danny loved improving his homes and inventing, such as the mechanics of an early battery powered electric car many years before its time.
Daniel was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Mae Rotunno and a sister, Rose Fusco. He is survived by two sons, Daniel R. Rotunno, Jr. and his wife, Pura of Edison, NJ and Robert M. Rotunno and his wife, Denise of Las Vegas, NV; a daughter, Rosemary DiMattei and her husband, Ottavio of Freehold Township; four grandchildren, Jennifer Amador and her husband, Antonio, Kristie Kovacs and her husband, Jesse, Raymond Rotunno, and Brittany Rotunno and her fiancé, Victor Spennato, III; five great grandchildren, Sarah, Antonio Jr., Julia, Matthew and Shayla Eve; and his Goddaughter, Cathy Alexander.
Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, on Friday, December 21, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at 8:00 AM on Saturday, December 22, 2012 for the procession to St. Genevieve Parish, 200 Monmouth Road, Elizabeth, NJ for his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass. Entombment to follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, NJ.
