Obituary of Robert S. Silver

Robert S. Silver, 57, of Howell passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.  Rob was born in Neptune and had lived in Howell and Asbury Park before settling in Howell.  He was a devoted and loving husband.  Rob shared so many great memories with his wife Donna, as they were always together.  Everything they did included lots of love and laughs. Rob enjoyed his Harley and riding with his wife and friends.  He was someone to look up to and admire and will be greatly missed.  Rob had a passion for racing.  A stock car driver at Wall Stadium for many years, known as “Rocket Rob” driving the #56 Street Stock.  Rob was a family guy and his world revolved around his son.  When Robert Jr turned 6, Rob passed the wheel over to him and was his dedicated crew chief since that day.   Those who knew him will remember him as an absolute joy to be around, hands down the funniest guy they ever met, and always with a smile.  Rob was one of a kind, always willing to lend a hand and give advice, even if you didn’t ask for it.  He was capable of making anyone laugh with his great sense of humor.  Rob was an amazing husband and father, and a true friend to so many.  You could typically find Rob in his garage fabricating something, making memories with friends, and of course, always with his favorite Wawa coffee in hand.

He was predeceased by his father, Gordon Duer Silver; and his stepmother, Josephine Patricia “Pat” Silver.  Rob is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Donna Marie Silver; son, Robert S. Silver, Jr. of Howell; mother, Jeannette Silver of Howell; brother, Michael Marcotte of Brick; sister, Patty Silver of Neptune; in-laws, Pat and Marie Martone of Monroe; sisters-in-law, Cathy Martone of Jamesburg, and Sue Boulogne and her husband, Rob of Jamesburg; nieces and nephews; and friends too numerous to count.  

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:30 PM with his funeral service to follow at 7:30 PM.  Interment will be private.  For those who desire, contributions may be made to the family for unexpected expenses.  For information, directions or to leave condolence messages for the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com
