Emil Milano

Obituary of Emil John Milano

Emil John Milano, 90, of Jackson passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township.  He was born in New York City, raised in the Bronx and had lived in River Edge and Manalapan before settling in Jackson. Emil attended NYU on a GI bill in the 1950’s after bravely serving for the United States Army during the Korean War. He returned home as a full-time worker, finishing college at night, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Business. Emil worked as a buyer for Gimbles Department Store and most recently as a liquor salesman for Star Industries. He retired as a Bus Driver for Jackson School Systems, a job he truly loved.  He was a jack of all trades, excelling as a speed skater in his younger years, was a great ice skater, tennis player, and handball champion of the Bronx. Emil enjoyed fishing, taking vacations with his family, and a nice glass of Johnny Walker Red of Black. He worked for World Fair in the 60’s and was an avid fan of the Yankees, Giants, Jets, and all things sports. Emil always made sure to be in the stands for his grandchildren’s football, lacrosse, and cheerleading events. He loved to play the guitar, sing, and entertain. Emil will be remembered for his warmth, ability to light up a room, and always being the life of a party. He was a nice Italian boy, devout Catholic, and served his whole life as a lecturer at Mass. Above all, he adored his family, attended all his grandchildren’s religious events, and was passionate about spending quality time with his children, grandchildren, and nieces.

Emil was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Eleanor Milano; brother, Joseph Milano; sister, Marie Milano Conte; and brothers-in-law, Anthony Conte and Dr. William Tierney.  He is survived by his son, Raymond Milano of Matawan; daughter, Janice Martino and her husband, Richard of Freehold and Florida; grandchildren, Lisa Martino, Nicole Martino, Raymond Milano, Jr., and Michael Martino; sister-in-law, Laura Tierney of Union Township; nieces, Jennifer Tierney-Reed and Kerry Tierney; and great niece and nephew, Emma and Aiden.
