Obituary of Robert Martin Harvey

Robert Martin Harvey, 72, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. Lovingly known as Bob to his family and friends, he was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The son of Ralph and Mildred, he grew up in Harrisburg and enlisted in the US Marine Corps where he was deployed and bravely served in Vietnam. Upon his return, he married Martha and eventually settled to Manalapan, New Jersey where they raised their children Erin and Ryan. Post-military, Bob worked as a controller for Lladró and Salon Development. He most recently worked at the Charleston Springs Golf Course during his retirement.

Bob will be remembered as an active fixture in his family’s life with a warm smile and ability to light up a room. A devoted family man, he made sure to always be involved in his children’s education as well as sporting events and activities, encouraging them to do their best and give 100% on the field as well as countless hours working on their skills off the field. He made sure everyone knew of his love of sports and dogs, and was always quick to donate his time and energy to family and friends. In his retirement, Bob was blessed to be able to focus on his passions for golf and his grandchildren.

Bob is predeceased by his father, Ralph M. Harvey; mother, Mildred E. Harvey; and uncle, George “Smokey” Harvey Sr.. He is survived by his beloved wife, Martha Harvey (nee Richardson); daughter, Erin Zawartkay (nee Harvey) and her husband John Zawartkay; son, Ryan Harvey and his wife Erin Harvey (nee Egan); grandchildren, Jackson Ryan Zawartkay, Harper Rose Harvey and newest granddaughter on the way; step-granddaughter, Sophia Zawartkay; sister, Rosemary Lenker (nee Harvey); aunt, Sandra M. Harvey; cousin, Melanie Suhr (nee Harvey); and many loving extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, November 1, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with his funeral service at 7:30 PM. Inurnment will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 11:30 AM in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.

For those who wish to honor Bob, a donation in his name may be made to Central Jersey Toys for Tots, a program run by the US Marine Corps which distributes toys to less fortunate children at Christmas. This can be done with cash or check at the visitation on Monday (a box will be present to collect donations) or by sending the donation to his wife, Martha Harvey. Additionally, his children will be collecting unused and unwrapped toys during the visitation. As a proud marine, Bob always donated many toys every year during Christmas time and all toys donated on Monday will be given to Central Jersey Toys for Tots this Christmas in his memory.
