Obituary of Nurhayat Cengiz

Nurhayat Cengiz, 59, of Freehold Township passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, December 2, 2021.  Nurhayat was born in Istanbul, Turkey and came to the United States in 1970 settling in Newark.  She had lived in South Orange, Long Island, and Belleville before moving to Monmouth County.  Nurhayat had a thrill for her Atlantic City trips especially to the Borgata.  Yet over everything else, family was everything to her, from birthday parties to Sunday dinners it was always F.O.E.

Nurhayat was predeceased by her son, Umit Cayli in 2016; her father, Nesip Cengiz in 1983; and her brother, Murat Cengiz in 2013.  She is survived by her daughter, Ebru Demirbulakli; her mother, Nermin Cengiz; five siblings, Nurhan Cengiz, Mirhiban Cengiz, Yucel Cengiz and his wife, Keila, Ayhan Cengiz and his wife, Vera and Sevgi Kocak and her husband, Serdar; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.  A 1:00 PM funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 4, 2021.  Interment will follow in Marlboro Memorial Cemetery, Marlboro.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Nurhayat may be made to the family for her daughter’s future.  For information, directions or condolence messages to the family visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com.
