Obituary of Galina Tkacenko

Galina Tkacenko, 91, of Jackson, passed away at her home on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 peacefully, surrounded by her family. She was born in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, then in 1949 moved to Howell before settling in Jackson in 1978. In Galina's spare time, she loved to travel, take trips to Manhattan, and tending to the flowers in her garden. She took pride in her home, active in Russian culture, and enjoyed spending time with her family. She is predeceased by her husband, Leonid Tkacenko; son, Leon Tkacenko; parents, Alexander and Alexandra Posidelow; sister, Antonia Kavoleff; and son-in-law, Lubomir Vitanov. Galina is survived by her children, Julie Vitanov of Jackson and Alexander Tkacenko and his wife, Michele of Jackson; Daughter-In-Law, Veronica Tkacenko; grandchildren, Lou Vitanov and his wife, Beth of Jackson, Laurie Coluni and her husband, Gregory of Point Pleasant, Alexander Tkacenko and his wife, Cassie of Plumsted, Janell Valle and her husband, Sean of Jackson, Erica Tkacenko of Jackson, Leon Tkacenko of North Brunswick, Andrew Tkacenko of North Brunswick, and Allison Tkacenko of North Brunswick; eight loving great grandchildren; brother, Anatole Posidelow of Howell; goddaughter, Nina Posidelow of Howell; and many loving nieces and nephews. Pannyhida will be held at St. Alexander Nevsky Russian Orthodox Cathedral, 200 Alexander Ave, Howell on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at 5:00 PM and Friday, December 10, 2021 at 6:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at church for Galina's funeral service on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow in St. Vladimir's Cemetery, 316 Cassville Road, Jackson. All arrangements are under the direction of Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home.
