Obituary of Bernice Stirrat
Bernice A. Stirrat, 89, of Freehold Township passed away at home on Thursday, December 27, 2012. Bernice was born in Newburgh, NY and was a long time Monmouth County resident, having lived in Long Branch and Neptune before moving here in 1969. She was a Registered Nurse in the Labor & Delivery Unit at Monmouth Medical Center and many other Monmouth County hospitals. She was a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church in Freehold and a former member of the Board of International Platform Association.
Bernice loved to travel. She and her family traveled to 49 states and all the provinces and original terriotories of Canada by car, camping all the way. Later she traveled extensively in Europe, Northern Africa, The Carribbean and Asia.
Bernice was predeceased by her husband, William A. Stirrat in 2004. She is survived by her son, William Stirrat and his wife, Valerie of Freehold Township; two daughters, Valerie and her husband, Rev. Dr. John Reynolds of Randolph and Dorothy Callihan of Tucson, AZ; and six grandchildren, Tyler Stirrat, Rachel Stirrat, Brian Reynolds, Amanda Reynolds-Futo and her husband Kevin, Stephanie Callihan and Allison Callihan.
Visitation at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:30 AM funeral service on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 31 Throckmorton Street, Freehold.
