Obituary of Charles Anthony Ventura, Jr.
Charles Anthony Ventura, Jr., 84, of Freehold passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Wedgwood Gardens. He was born and raised in Philadelphia and had lived in the Woodside section of Long Island prior to relocating to New Jersey. Charles had lived in Collingswood and southern New Jersey before moving to Waterbury, VT where he resided for many years. He then moved back to New Jersey, living in East Brunswick prior to Freehold. Charles worked as a DJ for WDEV in Vermont and WCTC in New Brunswick. Having a passion for music, Charles was a music teacher in Milltown. He had a true gift and could play many instruments, including piano, clarinet, flute, and saxophone just to name a few. Charles loved animals and could always be found feeding the stray cats in his neighborhood. He enjoyed great Italian and Chinese food and had an amazing sense of humor.
Charles was predeceased by his daughter, Cynthia Ventura. He is survived by his children, Michelle Files and her husband, Robert of Freehold and Joyce Seville and her husband, Joseph of Wenonah; grandchildren, Alex and Lily Files; siblings, Rita Lenderman of Ashville, NC and Anthony Ventura and his wife, Laura of Milton, DE; aunt, Angelina Realdine of Philadelphia; niece, Michelle McAdams; and nephews, Mark Lenderman, Maxwell Ventura, and Henry Ventura.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, 840 Cranbury South River Road, Jamesburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charles’ memory to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), 501 Front St., Norfolk, VA 23510.
