Obituary of Rudolph Anthony Carmichael
Rudolph “Rudy” Anthony Carmichael, 71, of Freehold passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at home. He was born in Aruba and raised in Dominica before moving to the United States in 1971. He was a chemical engineer at Hoffman-LaRoche for 35 years. Rudy was a Knicks fanatic, Hess mini truck collector and enjoyed remodeling antique cars especially his 1969 cougar. He enjoyed cooking all different types of food but his favorite meal to make was his curry chicken, hot sauce was always a must in his kitchen. Rudy was a jokester and a man of many words, he could speak multiple languages such as Dutch, Papiamento and Patwa. A music lover, he enjoyed singing calypso music and listening to Mighty Sparrow. Rudy would often reminisce about his life back in Dominica and the beauty of the country, he was very proud of his heritage. He was a family man always keeping his best gifts close to him, Rudy was extremely proud of his daughters and all of their accomplishments and was the best Grandpa Bear and will be missed by his Baby Bear Lailani and his Prince Anthony. His legacy will live on through the many stories and countless memories.
Rudy was predeceased by parents, Lloyd and Rosetta Carmichael; Siblings, Egbert James and Liz Green. He is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Wanda Carmichael; Two daughters, Nina Carmichael of Manalapan, and Rachel Carmichael and her fiancé, Edgar Salinas of Jackson; and grandchildren, Lailani Salinas and Anthony Salinas; Former wife and friend, Betsy Scheffer of Manalapan; Siblings, Regina Carterl, Judy Carmichael, Joyce Carmichael, Merlyne Carmichael, Brenda Carmichael, Cedric Carmichael and Robert Carmichael.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, January 20, 2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 8:30 PM with his funeral service to follow.
