Obituary of Marion O'Connell

Marion O’Connell, 93, of Freehold Township passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Bayshore Medical Center, Holmdel.  She was born and raised in Jersey City and had lived in Edison and Brick before settling here in 2004. Marion was an educator for the Edison Township School District teaching 4^th grade. After her retirement she took time for herself and family, summering at her home on the lagoon in Brick, shopping, and Sunday movie traditions with her daughters. Marion held the memories that she created with her friends from the Riviera Community in Freehold close to her heart. She had a love for animals and was a monthly donor to the Humane Society and Audubon Society.

Marion is predeceased by her husband, John O’Connell. She is survived by her daughters, Robyn Atcachunas  of Metuchen, and Kim O’Connell of Freehold; two grandchildren, Michael Atcachunas and Danielle Atcachunas; Sister, Gabriella “Gaby” Lavigna; Niece, Janice Jurgensen and her husband, Thomas; Brother-in-law, Michael Marron and his wife, Lydia of CA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township on Friday, February 11, 2022.  Inurnment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington, NJ 07031.
