Obituary of Nadir de Souza
Nadir de Souza, 84, of Freehold Township passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Nadir was born and raised in Ubririagara, Sao Paulo, Brazil and came to the United States in 1962 settling in Newark. He lived in South Orange, Maplewood, and Kenilworth before moving to Silvermead in Freehold Township in 2003. Nadir retired as a tool and die maker from Hago Manufacturing Inc., Mountainside after 40 years of dedicated service. He was a lover of sports. Nadir was passionate about Futbol (soccer) especially his home country Brazil and Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras. He was an Islander, Mets, and Cowboy fan, even making the pilgrimage to Dallas to watch them play. Nadir was an avid bowler in many leagues in Union, Mountainside and Howell. With thirst for the water, he relished in his time fishing either on the beach or by boat and even fished on the Amazon. Nadir enjoyed traveling as well. Along with his wife, he traveled throughout the United States even to Hawaii. Yet most of all, family was everything to him.
Nadir was predeceased by four brothers and a sister. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maria; two sons, Joao “John” De Souza of Garland, TX and Steven De Souza and his wife, Doreen of Bridgewater; three granddaughters, Nicole, Gabrielle, and Sofia; a brother, Sebastian De Souza of South Orange; and two sisters, Jandira Belinguer of Long Valley and Amelia Muth of Chester; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on February 13, 2022 from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM Funeral Service on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Ardena Baptist Church, 593 Adelphia Road, Howell, NJ.
