Obituary of Leroy R. Cranmer

Roy Cranmer, 82, of Farmingdale passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022, after a brave battle with Parkinson’s at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.  Roy was born in Long Branch and settled in Farmingdale in 1966.  He worked for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years, 25 of those years at the Farmingdale Post Office, and his last five years as Postmaster of Tennent Post Office retiring in 1995.  Mr. Cranmer served in the United States Army Reserves from 1957 to 1963.  He was a life member of the Central Jersey Blood Bank.  Roy was also a member of the United Postmasters and Managers of America.  He was an avid animal lover, and the person to call with any problems or if you needed help with any animal.  Roy was a member of the American Bantam Association for over 50 years.  He had many hobbies, one of which was raising a variety of animals.  Chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits, pheasant, guinea pigs, snakes and fish were among his many collections.  Mr. Cranmer was a wood carver and made many carvings gracing his home.  He was a true lover of nature.

 

He was predeceased by his parents, Leroy Cranmer and Rose Mazza Cranmer; and his brother, David Cranmer. Roy is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Pat Cranmer of Farmingdale; one son, Steven Cranmer and his wife, Janet and their son, Ethan of Niwot, CO; brother-in-law, William Perri and his wife, Debra of Cape Coral, FL; sister-in-law, Kathy Hayes and her husband, William of Fort Meyers, FL; nieces and nephews, William Perri, Alissa Perri, Joe Hayes, Sam Hayes and Kellie Hayes; and many cousins.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Saturday, March 5, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM with a Memorial Service to follow at 4:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Roy may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Miami, FL 33131.
