Obituary of Gail D'Amico
Gail D'Amico, 71, of Columbia, South Carolina passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. Gail was born and raised in Neptune Township and had lived in Neptune City, Ocean Township and Toms River before moving to Columbia in 2010. She retired as a Police Records Bureau Supervisor for the Marlboro Township Police Department in 2010. Prior to that, Gail worked as a controller for MidAtlantic Bank (now PNC Bank) in Neptune Township.
Anyone who met Gail was drawn to her spunky, happy-go-lucky personality and gentle nature. She was selfless, loved to care for others and was one of the nicest people you could ever know. She loved spending time with her family. As a new great-grandmother she spent most of her free time stealing cuddles from the new addition. Disney movies and westerns were her favorite things to watch. Her hobbies included shopping, math, sewing, playing on her tablet, & creating floral arrangements; which she once said that she had missed her calling. She was an avid lover of Italian food and steak and there’s not a place she went without a Cherry Coke in her pocketbook.
Gail was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Cecilia Bennett, her sister, Patricia Fernandez and her former husband, Leonard D’Amico. She is survived by her son, Michael D’Amico (Ester) of Wall Twp.; daughter, Debbie D’Amico of Columbia, SC; six grandchildren, Alicia, Joshua, Erica, Michael Jr., Micayla and Angelina; a great-granddaughter, Gianna; a sister, Lisa Bennett of Laurence Harbor; her loyal, loving pet companion, Rico, who never left her side and several nieces, nephews, cousins & many friends.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:00 AM Mass on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Holy Innocents Church, 3455 West Bangs Avenue, Neptune, NJ 07753. Interment will be private.
