Obituary of Juliet Shamah

Juliet Agnes Shamah, 93, of Freehold passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022 at The Manor, Freehold Township.  She was born and raised in Paterson and had lived in Wayne before settling here in 1996.    Juliet retired as a chef and owner, alongside with her husband, of the South Main Deli in Lodi.  They also owned and operated the Carousel Deli in Wayne.  Along with her sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and her husband, she was a chef at their deli, the Birchwood in Elmwood Park.  Cooking was not only her passion but her love.  Juliet was a woman of faith and was very involved with her church.  She was a former parishioner of St. Ann Melkite Catholic Church in Woodland Park and St. Catherine of Siena in Farmingdale and also a member of the Why Catholic group.  Juliet enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends either to Italy or Atlantic City or even religious pilgrimage to Canada. 

She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Albert Shamah; her son, Alan Raymond Shamah; a brother, Raymond Tahan; and a sister, Emelie Agia.  Juliet is survived by her children, Joseph Shamah and his wife, Carolyn of Franklin, Cathy Glowzenski and her husband, Len of Freehold, and Arlene Converse and her husband, Wayne of Cicero, NY; grandchildren, Jacqueline Gregory and her husband, Jack, Kristina Tipps and her husband, Daniel, Vanessa Glowzenski and her fiancĂ©, Ali, Deanna Vivino and her husband, Devrin, Nadine Glowzenski, Matthew Converse and Justin Converse; and great grandchildren, Isabelle, Madelyn, and twins, Juliette and Henrik.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, April 3, 2022 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 11:00 AM Funeral Service on Monday, April 4, 2022 at St. Ann Melkite Catholic Church, 802 Rifle Camp Road, Woodland Park, NJ 07424.  Interment will follow in Holy Sepulcher, Totowa.  For information, directions or to leave condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com
