Obituary of Linda Mae Smith

Linda Mae Smith, 77, of Freehold passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. She was born in Neptune, raised in Freehold, and had lived in Adelphia and Howell. Linda worked as a Clerk for Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield in Wall for many years until her retirement and prior to that for a hospice in Tinton Falls.  She was a former Lecturer for Farmingdale Grange, #157 and former Chaplin New Jersey State Grange Patrons Of Husbandry.  Most recently, Linda was a member of the Mercer Pomona Grange, #5 in Hamilton.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and scrap booking in her spare time. Linda was the former organist at both Bethesda United Methodist Church, Adelphia and Jerseyville United Methodist Church, Howell.  For the past thirty years, she was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Freehold where she was a primary teacher and primary organist.  Linda was devoted to her faith, and often thought about becoming ordained.  Yet most of all, she was a loving mother and memom.

She was predeceased by her mother, Helen Roe; stepfather, Raymond “Toby” Roe; brother, Melvin Charles Worth; daughter-in-law, Cathy Smith; and her uncle and aunt, Raymond J. and June Bartlett, Jr. Linda is survived by her son, Bruce Smith, Jr.; grandchildren, Meghan Smith and Matthew Smith; a brother, Raymond “Toby” Roe; sister-in-law, Renate Worth and three nephews and two nieces.

A visitation will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 136 Wemrock Road, Freehold, NJ 07728 on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 12:00 Noon with her funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM at the church.  Interment will follow in Adelphia Cemetery, 581 Wycoff-Mills Road, Adelphia.   All arrangements are by the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.
