Obituary of Alfonse J. Vitiello

Alfonse J. Vitiello, age 89, born in Glen Ridge and raised in Newark, NJ, beloved son of John and Rose (Veneziano) Vitiello and beloved son-in-law of Samuel and Catherine (Malfatto) Ventola passed away on Saturday April 30th, 2022. Alfonse lived and raised his beloved family in Belleville, NJ.

A US Navy veteran of the Korean War, Alfonse’s entire career was spent at Bendix/Allied as an electrical draftsman. Alfonse’s most rewarding career accomplishment was as a team member of NASA’s Apollo and Shuttle programs, working on the guidance system to bring our astronauts safely home. 

Alfonse loved watching his Yankees and Giants. He was a great athlete and scored a good golf game. Alfonse mostly enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved to travel with his beloved wife, Anita, especially to the Seaview Hotel. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be greatly missed by all.

He will be joining his beloved wife, Anita Vitiello, (nee Ventola) in Heaven. Alfonse is survived by daughters; Karin Spagnuolo and her husband Vincent, Lori Marzella and her husband John, Lisa Vitiello and Ginger Pitaccio, Valerie Livingston and her husband Timothy, Dana Sarka and her husband Jeffrey; grandchildren; Jaime, Lara & husband, Will, Jonathan & wife, Claudia, Christopher & wife Katie, Marcus, Jason and Jordan, great grandchildren; William, Isabella, Angelina, Francesca, and Gabriella.

Services are under the direction of the Clayton & McGirr, 100 Elton-Adelphia Rd., Freehold Township, NJ 07728. A memorial mass will be held at St. Veronica’s, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell, NJ 07731 on Friday, May 6th at 9:30 A.M.
