Obituary of Doris M. Clayton

Doris M. Clayton, 89, of Jackson passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Bartley Healthcare Nursing and Rehabilitation, Jackson. She would have had her 90^th birthday on July 18, 2022. She was born in Lakewood, raised in Howell, and settled here last year. Doris was a member of Kingdom Hall in Jackson.  She worked as a school bus driver for over forty years in the Howell Township public school system.  Doris loved gardening and crocheting. Her selfless, caring, and generous nature were traits that served her well as she always brought in stray animals and people.  An animal lover at heart, she was most fond of chipmunks, turtles, and frogs.  Doris’ favorite way to spend time was with those she adored, throwing a barbeque, and having family reunions which always included her homemade potato salad and the lights she kept up year-round for just such occasions. 

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Theodore R. Clayton, Sr.; sons, Frank Clayton, Theodore Clayton, Jr., and Timothy Clayton; great grandson, Jason Sanner; and sister, Mary Jean Mitchell. Doris is survived by her children, Raymond Clayton of Jackson, Valerie Jasiecki and her husband, Andre of Jackson, and Lydia Camacho of Jackson; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; siblings, Alexander Robert Mitchell of Toms River and Ruth Larsen of New York; and her feline companion, GrayCloud.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 11:00 AM funeral service on Friday, July 8, 2022 at the Funeral Home.
