Obituary of Jean Della Torre

Jean Della Torre, 86, of Jackson passed away peacefully on Monday, July 4, 2022 at home. She was born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania raised in Camden and had lived in Iselin and Freehold before settling to Jackson to 1998. Jean was a secretary for John Hancock and had worked various jobs in retail before working 10 years at EMO Medical Care as the billing supervisor. She was a woman of strong faith and attended daily Mass at the Co- Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine in Freehold Township, She volunteered at church during her free time participating in the Altar Linen Ministry, Hospital Eucharistic Ministry and was also a Eucharistic Minister at Mass. Jean took great pride in helping her community and volunteered at the St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church soup kitchen, Bread from Heaven. She was known for her powerful prayers, her prayer life was strong, full, generous, and comforting, her prayers were one the greatest gifts one could receive.  Jean was active in her adult community, Winding Ways, and was a chairwoman of the welcoming committee. She truly loved her neighbors and was known for her homemade soups which she would bring when visiting those in need. Her greatest pleasure in life was her family and they will forever cherish the memories of Jean.

She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Helen Paltjon; siblings, Robert Paltjon, Doris Fellows and Eleanor Franks. Jean is survived by her husband of 63 years, Philip Della Torre of Jackson; sister, Nancy Novak and her husband, Ebby of Marlton; children, Philip J. Della Torre of Englishtown, Kathy Bigos and her husband, Paul of Downingtown, PA Vincent Della Torre and his wife, Nancy of Colonia, Janice Trombitas and her husband, James of Venetia, PA and Pamela Battaglia and her husband Tom of Beaufort, SC; eleven grandchildren and her first great granddaughter on the way.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, July 10, 2022 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:30 AM Funeral Mass on Monday, July 11, 2022 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township, NJ 07728.  Interment will follow in Brigadier General William C.
