Obituary of James J. Cameron

James J. Cameron of Howell Township passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.  James was born on February 3, 1938 in Plainfield.  He was raised there and then moved to the Monmouth County area.  Along with his wife, James settled in Howell Township in 1978.  He was employed by X.S. Smith from 1973 until he retired in 2004.  James had a passion for fishing and was a skilled hunter.  He was a parishioner of the Church of St. Veronica.  James was a loving husband for forty-eight years, caring father, adoring grandfather, and great-grandfather.

James was predeceased by his mother, Christine Bengivenga Cameron; two sisters, Angelina Frappier and Ellen Mae Ehlers; and three brothers, Frank, Clyde, and Jackie.  He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Julie; son, Paul Koons of Howell; granddaughter, Crystal Koons of Howell; a son, James of California; three grandchildren, Nathan, Roland, and Nina; seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Carmella Bresnan of Arizona, Christina Leaman of Hazlet, Dorothy Torres of Freehold; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, August 15, 2022 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 8:30 AM for the procession to his 9:30 AM Funeral Mass at the Church of St. Veronica, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell Township.  Entombment will follow in Marlboro Memorial Cemetery & Mausoleum, Marlboro.  For information, directions or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com
