Obituary of Dr. Rajkumar R. Singh

Dedicated Physician, devoted husband, loving father and friend Rajkumar R. Singh MD, 71, of Manalapan, NJ sadly passed away on Wednesday, August 10th at Hackensack University Medical Center. He was born in Imphal, Manipur, in India. While in India, Rajkumar earned his Medical Degree from Dayanand Medical College. He immigrated to the United States in 1981 when he moved to Chicago. He completed his internship at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, MO, and residency at Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, as well as Fellowship at Mount Sinai in NYC before he settled in Manalapan in 1991 with his wife and 2 children. Dr. Singh was a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and continued working at Monmouth Medical Center as well as Capital Health in Hopewell. Most recently, he worked for Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy. He mentored and nurtured medical students and staff and served as a font of knowledge and experience for all he met.

While his dedication to helping his patients was unparalleled, he was also an avid Indian idol viewer, ice cream aficionado, devoted NY Yankees fan, and butler to two dogs (Beau and Cooper).  Of all of his achievements, Rajkumar considered being a father and family man his greatest. He never hesitated to share his pride and joy in his children, Monica and Nitin with his former wife, Nisha Singh.  His son and daughter, and new grandson brought him the greatest joy, even when challenging his patience and skills as a psychiatrist and expert in the human mind.  He is also survived by his loving wife, Neelma and her children, as well as his 2 sisters, and many, many nieces and nephews (both here in the US and in India), as well as many close family friends. His endless devotion and dedication as a father, husband, and physician, were only matched by his faith in God. Kind-hearted and always giving, he will remain forever in the hearts of his family, friends, and colleagues, as well as the countless patients he cared for.
