Obituary of Christopher "Ernie" Leone
Christopher “Ernie” Leone, 89, of Marlboro passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, where he resided for most of his life before settling in Marlboro three years ago. After serving as an aircraft mechanic in the United States Air Force, Ernie worked as a TV repairman, eventually opening his own store. He then went on to maintaining packaging and warehouse storage machinery. Ernie finished his career as a Xerox technician representative. His tech savvy nature guided him not only in his professional life but in his personal life as well; he enjoyed tinkering in his home electronic workshop and maintaining the sound system and church bells at Saint Rosalia and Regina Pacis. A devout Catholic, Ernie was a member of the church choir and a CCD instructor. In his spare time, he took excellent care of his 1963 Chevy Belair.
Ernie was predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, Marie Leone; son, Robert M. Leone; grandson, Christopher R. Leone; and siblings, Salvatore Leone and Maryanna Cordaro and her husband, Carmelo. He is survived by his children, Christopher Leone and his wife, Linda of Freehold Township and Denise Leone and her husband, Peter Graffagnino of Bridgeville, DE; grandchildren, Sarah Macolino and her husband, Paul, Michael Leone, and Jessica Leone; and great grandchildren, Evelina, Giulia, and Serafina.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Gabriel’s Historic Church, 549 Newman Springs Road, Marlboro on Saturday, August 27, 2022. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, 361 Sharrott Avenue, Staten Island, NY. All arrangements are under the direction of the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.
