Obituary of Richard W. Perkins
Richard W. Perkins, 78, of Freehold Township passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Marianne; and his two loving sons, Richard Perkins, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, and Steven Perkins and his wife, Kristen; three grandchildren, Matthew, Steven, and Maggie; and a brother, F. Raymond Perkins and his wife, Jean. Rich was predeceased by his sister, Ruth Ann Breunig and her husband William.
Rich was born in Irvington and raised in Union. He lived in Sayreville before settling in Freehold in 1983. Originally a member of I.B.E.W., Local 675 and most recently Local 102, Rich was a journeyman electrician for over forty years before retiring in 2009. He was a wonderful and caring person who adored his family and enjoyed helping them with any project. RIch loved being outside in his yard, eating good food or taking a nap. He spent most of his vacation time at Disney with his family, and embraced the persona of “Grumpy Grandpa”. Rich was a longtime parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, September 25, 2022 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 9:30 AM for the procession to his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 16 McLean Street, Freehold Borough. Entombment will follow in the St. Gabriel’s Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleums, 549 County Rd 520, Marlboro.
