Obituary of Kenneth F. Smith
Kenneth Smith, 75, of Freehold passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. He was born at Fitkin Hospital in Neptune and was a lifelong resident of Freehold. Ken was a 1965 graduate of Freehold Regional High School and graduated from Montclair State College in 1969, where he was a member of the Psi Chi Fraternity. He received his master’s degree from Trenton State College. An educator for 40 years with the Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District, Ken worked as both a teacher and an administrator. He felt the MARSD staff and students were family. Ken loved every aspect of his time there. He took pride in guiding the high school students, and the students and families of Strathmore. Ken continued to stay in touch with staff after his retirement. He loved them and they loved him.
Ken and his wife, Anne celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 9th of this year. They enjoyed dining out and meeting new people.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Anne Camarata Smith; his sister, Kathryn Smith, of Freeland, MI; brothers-in-law, Bert Camarata and his wife, Corinne of Williston Park, NY and Charles Camarata of Farmingdale, NJ; niece, Lauren Camarata of Brooklyn; nephews, Justin Harnden of Cedar Springs, MI and Christopher Camarata and his wife, Kathleen of Huntington, NY; grandnieces Liva, Caleigh and Nova Camarata of Huntington, NY; aunt, Caroline “Lena” Olbis of Freehold, NJ; uncle, Robert Faber, Sr. and his wife, Patricia of Cream Ridge, NJ; and many dear cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, September 30, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM funeral service at the funeral home on Saturday, October 1, 2022. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
