Jay Green

Obituary of Jay Green

Jay Green, 76, of Manalapan passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 28, 2022 at Capital Health Regional Medical Center, Trenton spending his final days surrounded by his closest family and friends.  Born in Jersey City, he was a current resident of Manalapan.  Jay earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Fairleigh Dickenson University.  He continued his education earning his New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance Instructor’s License, National Multi-State Licensing Systems Instructor Certificate, NJ Real Estate Instructor Certification, and Certified Financial Planner Instructor License.  Jay was the owner of the George Weiss Insurance School in Old Bridge for over 30 years. He successfully instructed thousands of professionals.

Jay was a sports car enthusiast and an avid reader. He loved to travel to warm tropical destinations, especially Aruba where he’s had over 20 visits. He loved his second home in Diamond Beach at the Jersey Shore where he served on the condominium board association for many years. On a warm sunny day in Manalapan you would find him in his favorite place, near his backyard pool, with a newspaper, sports radio on, with his favorite foods and drink. He enjoyed working out at CentraState Fitness and Wellness Center and watching the Yankees and the Jets.

He loved all his family pets over the years—there were dozens. He’s survived by his adored dog, Emily, his grand-cat, Winnie, and his outdoor cat, Lucy. He has always volunteered his time, support, and love to animals and building safe shelters and getting feral cats healthcare while loving all of the time spent with the cats he cared for.

Jay was a devoted and beloved husband and father to his two children. His children came first in his life over anything else.

Jay is predeceased by his parents, Theodore and Shirley Green.  He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 36 years, Jane Mary Green; loving children, David K. Green of East Windsor and Jenny Green and her fiancé, Dan Cottrell of Toms River; siblings, Kenneth Green and his wife, Marcia of Fort Lee, and Sidney Green and his wife, Shelly of Fredericksburg, VA; two brothers-in-law Louis Schaefer and his wife, Irma of Cookstown, and Paul Schaefer of South Hackensack; and several beloved nieces, nephews and family friends
