Obituary of Maria DeLuise
Maria DeLuise, 84, of Jackson, NJ passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Freehold, NJ with her family by her side. She was born into the Mastrangelo family and raised in the small Italian town known as Moliterno where she was orphaned as a teenager. She was swept away as a young lady by an American Korean War soldier whose family lived in a neighboring town. Soon after meeting Philip DeLuise they married and moved to Brooklyn, NY where they lived 45 years before moving to Jackson. She was an incredible wife, mother and friend to many. She loved to cook and prepare her family’s favorite dishes especially during the holidays. Through her early years growing up during difficult times she gained life skills of compassion, reason and selflessness. Her grace, elegance, or caring demeanor will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Philip DeLuise of Jackson; three daughters, Lucy Romeo and her husband, John of Convent Station, Josephine Cocchiara and her husband, John of Freehold and Lisa Petrosino and her husband, Stephen of Belmar; and six grandchildren, John, Nicole, Gianni, Cassandra, Stephen and Caitlin.
Maria was a parishioner of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Jackson where she attended mass regularly.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 11:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Road, Jackson Township. Interment will follow in Brigadier General William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Arneytown.
