Obituary of John Afanador

John Afanador, 73, of Howell passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, raised in Bradley Beach, and had lived in Neptune before settling in Howell in 1995. John worked as an Electrical Technician at E.M.I. for over 10 years. Being raised at the beach, he enjoyed spending time near the water. John could often be found walking anywhere and everywhere around New Jersey. He was a fantastic cook. John perfected his rice and beans, and it was always comforting for his family to come home to his cooking. He loved music, creating oil paintings, and listening to audio books. John loved plants and had a green thumb. He was family oriented and was truly the glue to the family. You could always count on him for a meaningful phone call. John will be remembered for living his life to the fullest and will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

He was predeceased by his parents, Emilio and Ana Afanador. John is survived by his wife of 28 years, Kathy Aduchijeff of Howell; children, Gina Melchionna and her husband, Robert of Florida, Denise Afanador of Florida, Racheal Afanador of New Jersey, Amanda Afanador of New Jersey, and Alexandria Afanador of New Jersey; 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brothers, Elias Afanador and Ivan Afanador and his wife, Marie; sisters, Doris Rodriguez and her husband, Jose and Miriam Ramos and her husband, Ramon; two sisters-in-law, Sandy and Zagana; brother-in-law, David and his wife, Barbara; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 12:30 PM graveside service in Monmouth Memorial Park Cemetery, 4201 Route 33, Tinton Falls on Thursday, December 15, 2022.
