Obituary of Charles J. Gadson

A Man, Brother, Father, Husband, Uncle, Cousin, and Friend.

Charles Junior Gadson, 79, of Toms River, NJ, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at his home in Toms River, NJ.

Charles was born in Charleston, South Carolina on September 7, 1943. In 1946, Charles relocated to New Jersey where he resided in the towns of Hightstown and Ramtown. Charles attended the Ardena High School until later becoming employed with Brockway Glass as a machine operator, where he worked for over 20 years.

It was in Ramtown where he met the love of his life Annie Gadson. Charles knew from the moment he laid his eyes on Annie that she was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. On June 24, 1963, the two became united, doing everything together. Charles was a man of little words, he enjoyed watching football, his western movies, and spending time with family.

Charles was predeceased by his mother, Ruth Gillard-Gadson; his father, Charles Gadson; his wife, Annie Christine Gadson; his siblings; John Gadson, Mary Gadson-Vaughn, James Gadson, Gilbert Gadson, Shirley Gadson-Creadle, Joyce Gadson, Willis C. Mann, Violet Mann, and Kevin Gadson; sons Quentin Gadson and Christopher Howard and daughters, Jennifer Gadson, and Sonia Mack.

Charles is survived by his brother Eddie Mann of Somerset, NJ, sisters Betty Gadson of Lakewood, NJ, Janie Gadson of Norfolk, VA, Hope Gadson-Fredrick of Georgia; children Clinton Howard, Anthony Howard (daughter-in-law Denise Howard), Darryl Gadson, daughter Charlene Gadson (son-in-law William Winters), Andre Gadson, and Johnathan Gadson (daughter-in-law Christal Gadson) all of New Jersey. As well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township on Saturday, December 24, 2022 from 8:00 to 9:00 AM with his funeral service to follow at 9:00 AM.
