Obituary of Diane M. Bettinger

Diane M. Bettinger, 61, of Howell passed away at home on Monday, December 19, 2022. She was born in Orange, raised in East Brunswick and settled to Howell in 1987. Diane was a special education teacher at Willett Elementary and Oceanport Elementary Schools and recently worked as a teacher's aide at Monmouth Beach Elementary. After her two sons were born, Diane devoted her time to them. She was a former PTA member at Ramtown Elementary School and Howell Middle School, CCD teacher at St. William the Abbot, and also served on the Board of Directors for the Howell Intramural Hockey Club. Diane never missed a hockey game or practice and could always be found at the glass in the corner cheering her sons on. She was the ultimate hockey mom. Diane was selfless, always doing for others and putting her family's needs first.

She was predeceased by her parents, Philip and Phyllis Mancinelli; and brother, Michael Mancinelli. Diane is survived by her husband, Mark Bettinger of Howell; two sons, Christopher Bettinger of Howell and Matthew Bettinger and his wife, Harley of Tolleson, AZ; and one grandson on the way.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:30 AM Funeral Mass on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at St. William the Abbot, 2740 Lakewood-Allenwood Road, Howell, NJ 07731. Interment to follow at Gates of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ 07936. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Diane may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 633 Third Avenue, Fifth Floor, New York, NY 10017.
