Obituary of Matthew Joseph Schmeling

Matthew Joseph Schmeling, 38, of Freehold passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He was born in Point Pleasant and raised in Howell and Spotswood. Matthew lived in many places with his family, from the New Jersey mountains down to the shore before settling in Freehold in 2020. Matthew loved going to Church and taking many visits to the boardwalk. He made a lasting impression on everyone he met with his bright smile and glimmering blue eyes. Matthew will forever be remembered by his calm and kind nature.

He is survived by his devoted parents, Pastor Raymond Schmeling and his wife, Joanne; sister, Melanie Schmeling-Goodman and her husband, Ryan; niece, Taylor; nephew, Noah; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Jerseyville United Methodist Church, 8 Howell Road, Howell on Saturday, January 7, 2023, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with his funeral service to begin at 11:00 AM.
