William A. Sitty, 88, of Millstone passed away at home on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. He was born and raised in Jersey City, moved to North Bergen with his late wife to raise their family, and later lived in Shark River Hills before settling in Millstone. After serving in the United States Army during the Korean War, Bill worked his entire career as a crane operator for Reinauer Transportation Co. In retirement, Bill was known by many as a beach badge checker on Third Avenue in Belmar. A water lover, he enjoyed relaxing at the beach. Bill was a dedicated family man, and a loving “Pop” to everyone. In his spare time, he loved to go to Ocean Resort in Atlantic City and play the slots.
Bill was predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Rose Sitty in 2021. He is survived by his daughters, Michele Craven of Neptune, Maureen Sitty-Emilius and her husband, John of Sea Girt, and Grace Trentacosti and her husband, Anthony of Millstone; grandchildren, James Basciano, Carlie Singler and her husband, Kevin, Andrea Trentacosti, Corinne Craven, and Colleen Craven; and great grandson, Logan Singler.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, January 2, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 9:00 AM at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 for the procession to his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 91 Stillhouse Road, Millstone. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, 169 West Main Street, Freehold Township.
