Obituary of Charles D. Dietsch

Charles Donald Dietsch, 87, of Lakewood, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023, at Willow Springs Long Term Care Facility, Brick, NJ. He was born and raised in Staten Island, moved to Manalapan in 2009, and settled in Brick, in 2017. Charles served in the United States Army as a Private, from March 1958 to March 1960, and was stationed at Fort Eustis, VA.  He then worked at Sedutto Ice Cream Parlor in Staten Island and then worked for 30 years as a Legal Secretary for the law firm, Kaye Scholer, New York, NY.  Charles commuted every day by bus from his home in West Brighton to his office on Park Avenue.  Charles was also certified as a Legal Stenographer and for several years taught classes to students in West Brighton.  His hard work ethic was carried on to both Thomas and Laura.  Charles enjoyed vacationing at Long Beach Island and at Daytona Beach.  His favorite baseball player was Joe DiMaggio.  Charles always dreamed of playing Centerfield for the N.Y. Yankees.

Charles is survived by his children, Thomas Dietsch and his wife, Susan of Fort Mill, SC, and Laura Dietsch and her wife, Josephine Salamone of Denver, NC; grandchildren, Christopher and fiancé Megan, of Farmingdale, NJ; Alyssa of Fort Mill, SC, Kaitlyn Adams and her husband, Dave of Fort Mill, SC, and Andrew and fiancé Starla, of Fort Mill, SC; and great grandsons, Cashton James and Aiden Christopher.  He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Gertrude Dietsch; sister, Dorothy O’Donnell; brothers, Edward Dietsch, George Dietsch, and John Dietsch.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. His 11:00 AM Funeral Mass will follow at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 31 Asbury Road, Farmingdale. Interment will be private.
