Alexandra Marzulli

Obituary of Alexandra Marzulli

Alexandra (Alice) Marzulli, age 85, of Jackson, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 14, 2023.  Alice was born in Manhattan to parents Walter Usovitch and Wanda Vogelgesang and was raised in Newark. She attended Central High School and was crowned Cherry Blossom Queen in 1955. It was in this same city that she met and married her husband Felice (Phil). The two married on May 9, 1959, they celebrated 51 years together. She had lived in Carteret, Toms River, and then Howell Township, where she resided for 40 years raising her children and welcoming grandchildren. She enjoyed the wide-open spaces, rural country setting and many warm summer weekends at the family pool.  She also enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, jarring tomatoes, peach & apple picking and making fruit preserves. She kept many bird feeders around the home, enjoyed bird watching and caring for our many family pets. She loved antiquing and had an extensive collection of mustache cups.  A woman of faith, Alice was a former parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Farmingdale.

She also worked outside the home for the Monmouth County Office on Aging, and for the State of New Jersey as a legal secretary for the Office of the Public Defender, Freehold. She retired from the State of NJ in 2002.

She and her husband Felice (Phil) enjoyed many consecutive summers vacationing to Quaglietta, Italy, Felice’s birthplace. They enjoyed the quiet, peaceful surroundings of the town and feast day celebrations in the surrounding cities.

In 2014 she moved to Winding Ways in Jackson where she became an active member in the Red Hat Society and Singles Club.  Alice also played dominos and mahjong with friends or would walk to the community pool to just sit and relax with a book.  She loved reading and would often visit the local library regularly.  Her other favorite things were watching Judge Judy, playing words with friends, candy crush and Facebook.

Alice was a devoted wife, loving mother and adoring grand and great grandmother.

She was predeceased by her husband, Felice Marzulli in 2010 and a son, Vincent P. Marzulli in 2021. Alice is survived by her two children, Walter Marzulli and his wife Eileen of Toms River and Sandra Marzulli of Freehold; grandchildren, Kyle, Brian and his wife Lisa, Alyssa, Michael and his wife Jamie, great grandchildren, Hailey, Anthony and Alice.
