Obituary of Eleanor A. Lord
Eleanor A. “Ellie” Lord, 82, of Jackson passed away at her daughter’s home on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. She was born in New Brunswick, raised in Highland Park and lived in Jackson. Ellie worked for Maidenform for many years, and then as a lineman for International Vitamin Company. She truly lived her life for her children. Ellie was a great cook, stuffed cabbage and meat sauce being two of her specialties, and was the consummate host for the holidays. She was a cat lover and country music fan who could always be heard humming. Some of her favorite hobbies were crossword puzzles, going to the casino and playing the slots, and playing Bingo. Ellie especially loved to travel with her late husband, visiting California and Tennessee along with their annual pilgrimage to see the cherry trees in Washington.
Ellie was predeceased by her husband, John “Jack” H. Dougherty; infant sons, Keith, Frank and Scott; sister, Arline Timko; brother, Joseph Damoci; and nephew and godson, Robert Timko. She is survived by her sister, Veronica Symonds of TX; daughters, Laurie Myren of Lebanon, PA; and Chris Panté of South Amboy; grandchildren, Heather, Jennifer, Ashley, Amber, Anthony, Joseph and Stephen; great grandchildren, Emily, Cynthia, Kaitlyn, Anniyah, Isaiah, Lena, Benjamin, Aubriana and Aiden; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM with her memorial service to follow. Inurnment will follow in Brigadier General William C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ellie’s name may be made to Monmouth County SPCA, 260 Wall Street, Eatontown, NJ 07724.
