Obituary of Dennis B. McSweeney

Dennis B. McSweeney, 80, of Howell passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township.   Dennis was born and raised in Brooklyn and lived in Staten Island and Pompano Beach, FL returned to Staten Island before settling here in 2010.  He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War.  Dennis then went to work as a bus driver for the New York City Port Authority for 20 years. 

A parishioner of the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, Dennis enjoyed watching all sports, especially the New York Mets and Jets.  He could often be found on the golf course and spending time on the beach at the Jersey Shore and loved vacationing in Aruba.

He was predeceased by three sisters.  Dennis is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Rose McSweeney; sons, Steven Timpone and his wife, Alison of Manalapan, and Ronald Timpone and his wife, Debbie of Staten Island; daughter, Jennifer Timpone of Howell; and four grandchildren, Joseph, Christina, Lillian, and Julia.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, February 27, 2023 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at 9:30 AM for the procession to his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family at the New Jersey Veteran Cemetery.  For those who desire, memorial contributions in Dennis’ name may be made to the Michael J.
