Obituary of Alva Ambrosino
Alva E. Ambrosino, 75, of Howell passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at her home. She was born and raised in Manhattan and had lived in Staten Island before moving to Howell in 2005. Alva worked at Susan E. Wagner High School as a para professional and later worked as a teacher’s aide at Winding Brook School in Tinton Falls for over three years, both jobs she truly loved. A lover of games, she enjoyed playing Bingo, Mahjong, Bunco with her “Bunco girls” and cards with her grandchildren. Alva loved to travel and would look forward to her trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City where she would play the slots. Her greatest joy was her family, and her proudest moments were watching her children grow and have children of their own. Nothing brought Alva more joy than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren whom she was affectionately known as “Grandma”. She was the heart and soul of her family. Alva lit up the world with her commanding presence, quick wit, and friendliness.
She is predeceased by her husband, Vincent M. Ambrosino, Sr.; and brother, Edwin Ayala. Alva is survived by her four children, Stacey Maiello and her husband, Michael of Colts Neck, Vincent Ambrosino, Jr. and his wife, Debbie of Accokeek Maryland, Daniel Ambrosino and his partner, Laura Cutillo of Staten Island, and Maritza Barajas and her husband, Mark of Manalapan; ten grandchildren, Alexandra and her fiancé Jared, Michael, Vincent, Johnathan, Genevieve, Vanessa, Casey, Samantha, Phoenix and Mark; siblings, Carmen Lydia Millan and Leopaldo Ayala, Jr and Henry Ayala; and her faithful companion, Bozo.
