Obituary of Josephine M. Moss

Josephine M. Moss, 87, of Freehold passed away peacefully at Brandywine Living at Howell on Sunday, March 12, 2023.  She was born and raised in Newark and had lived in East Orange before moving to Freehold in 1967. Josephine worked as clerk for the Freehold Township Board of Education and a media assistant at Barkalow Middle School for 25 years before retiring in 2007. A woman of faith, Josephine was founding parishioner at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine in Freehold Township.  She was a walker, walking every day and even up to six miles a day.  Josephine cherished her trips visiting Atlantic City throughout the years, playing the game of Mahjong and spending time with family and friends.  She was active in her community at the Villages as member of the magazine staff and the library. Above all, Josephine was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She is predeceased by her husband, W. Dallas Moss; a brother, Joseph Vecchione; and her sister, Helen Odgers. Josephine is survived by her two children, Monica DeRosa and her husband, Alan of Stuart, Florida, and Maria Moss and her boyfriend, James Long of Belford; a sister, Theresa Reina of Toms River; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, March 16, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 9:30 AM for the procession to her 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township on.  Interment will follow in St. Rose Cemetery, 299 Freehold-Englishtown Road, Freehold Township.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Josephine’s name to Operation Smile, 3641 Faculty Boulevard, Virginia Beach, VA 23453 or by clicking HERE.
