Obituary of Concetta Amato

Concetta “Connie” Amato, 94, of Freehold passed away peacefully at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township on Monday, March 20, 2023.  Connie was born, raised and had lived her whole life in Brooklyn before moving, with her husband, to Freehold in 1996.  She was an office worker for Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn until retiring in 1997.  Connie was a skilled knitter.  She was an excellent cook effortless moving through the kitchen like a true Italian woman.  Connie was a dedicated wife, loving mother, and an adoring grandma and great grandma.

She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Amato and three sisters, Rose Brill, Mary DiScala, and Anna Capparella.  Connie is survived by her children, Michael Amato and his wife, Karla of Bedford, PA, Maria Sanzillo and her husband, Pete of Staten Island and Vincent Amato and his girlfriend, Karyn Vidal of Freehold; six grandchildren, Grace Amato, Frankie Amato and his wife, Kelsey, Dr. Lance Alquran and his wife, Dr. Cynthia Alquran, Alia Alquran, Dana Sarros and her husband, Drew, and Michael Amato; a great granddaughter, Lyra Violet Sarros; her brother, Carmine Spatola and wife, Astrid of Staten Island; her dear cousin Concetta D’Amico; and many nieces and nephews.

A gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon with her funeral service to follow at 12:00 Noon.  For those that cannot attend in person, the family invites you to participate via Webcast through the Funeral Home website, HERE.
