Obituary of Fred "Giovanni" Del Guercio, Jr.
Fred “Giovanni” Del Guercio, Jr., 73, of New Egypt passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Fred was raised in Maple Shade, NJ. During his colorful life, he had lived in Stanton, VA, Kalamazoo, MI, Brielle, Marlboro, Farmingdale, and Allentown , NJ before moving to New Egypt in 2022. He received his bachelor’s degree from Maryland Institute College of Art. He retired as the Technical Director at the Woods Theatre at Monmouth University in 2022. Prior to that, he was an adjunct professor at the University and a freelance artist.
Giovanni was the quintessential Renaissance Man and a folk artist. Skilled at crafting stained and etched glass, jewelry, sculpture, pottery and knives, his imagination knew no boundaries. Giovanni relished his time as a craftsman and artist. Art was his passion. Yet sharing his love and appreciation of nature with his children was his solace.
Giovanni was predeceased by his sister, Dr. Maggie Del Guercio. He is survived by his five children, Jessica Green and her husband, Bishop of Powhatan, VA, Mary Fosky and her husband, James of Maitland, FL, Lauren Ronzino of Lakeland, FL, Michael Del Guercio and his wife, Ashley Lant of Brick and Matthew Del Guercio and his wife, Kelly Cusick of Point Pleasant; four grandchildren, Alesis, Giovanna, Charlotte, and Nicholas; and his significant other, Jane Frantz of Bordentown, NJ who loved him very dearly.
Relatives and friends may gather at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
