Obituary of Barbara Ann Hurley

Barbara Ann Hurley (nee Reid), 88, passed onto eternal life on March 26, 2023 at her home in Farmingdale. She was surrounded by her daughter, Susan, grandsons, Wayne and Joshua, and daughter by love, Barbara MacKenzie.

She was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Marguerite Reid; brothers, Edward J. Reid and George D. Reid; sister, Elizabeth M. Lisle; husband, Robert E. Hurley; nephew, Timothy Lisle; niece, Barbara E. Sparks; father and mother-in-law, Edward and Sophie Hurley; and brother-in-law, Richard L. Hurley. Barbara is survived by her son, Robert E. Hurley, Jr. and his wife, Debra of Raleigh, NC, and their children, Elizabeth and her husband, Michael Raynor of Raleigh, NC, Madeline Hurley of Alaska, Nicholas Hurley and his fiancée, Lauren Gray of Raleigh, NC; her daughter, Susan C. Hurley; grandsons, Wayne H. Lipman, III and Joshua K Lipman, all of Farmingdale.

Barbara grew up in Neptune and graduated from Neptune high school.

She was involved in many activities there and was so proud of being the first female drum major. Barbara was a lifelong resident of Farmingdale, moving here in 1956. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Farmingdale. Barbara retired from the Federal Government, Fort Monmouth at age 71. She enjoyed cooking and could be found feeding many around town. Barbara also enjoyed the many dogs she rescued over the years.

A memorial gathering will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Farmingdale on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 4:00 PM. Her burial of cremains will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Monmouth Memorial Park, 4201 NJ-33, Tinton Falls, NJ 07753. All arrangements are under the direction of the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.
