Obituary of Esther Majdan

Esther Majdan, 91, of Jackson passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.  Born in Berlin, Germany, Esther met her future husband after World War II.  Together they entered the United States through Ellis Island and settled in the Bronx.  In 1951 they moved to Farmingdale, NJ where they purchased a poultry farm and raised their family.  Later in life, Esther worked for many years at Puglisi Egg Farm.  In 2006 she relocated to Jackson and enjoyed her retired life, especially gardening and birdwatching. 

Esther was predeceased by her parents, Wilhelm and Margaret Gehrt; husband, Josef Majdan; and brother, Gunter Gehrt.  She is survived by her son, Jack Majdan and his wife, Karen, of Farmingdale; and daughter, Toby Majdan and her wife, Jo Ann Dunst also of Farmingdale.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on  Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 11:00 to 11:30 AM with her funeral service scheduled for 11:30 AM.  Interment will follow in Freehold Hebrew Cemetery, Freehold.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Esther’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
