Obituary of Yook Yee Moy
Yook “Yookie” Moy, 83, of Jackson, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Friday, April 14, 2023. Yookie was born in 1939 to parents Lett Goon Moy & Chin Shee Goon. He was the youngest of six siblings and was raised in Hackensack and New York City. As a youth he washed dishes at China Garden restaurant, which his Dad had a small ownership and later worked at the family laundry they had in the north part of Hackensack. After his Dad’s passing in April 1951, the family moved to New York.
In 1960, at the age of 21, he joined the United States Army where he received the Good Conduct Medal and was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. Yookie proudly served until 1965.
After being discharged from the United States Army, he met and married Doris. They settled in Jackson, NJ where they lived for over 50 years. For 19 years, Yookie worked at Delta Airlines as a Group Sales Reservation Agent in NYC. He thoroughly loved his Delta family and traveling to visit family across the USA.
Yookie was always warm-hearted, sincere, and full of joy. He especially loved spending time with his family and many friends. He was quick with jokes and took great enjoyment in making others smile. He loved listening to his records and listening to or watching baseball.
Yook was predeceased by his parents, Lett Goon Moy and Chin Shee, brother Ngook Hong Goon and sister-in-law Swey Lan; sister Sady Huie; sister Angeline Poyd and brother-in-law Gene; and sister Josie Moy. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris; his daughter, Shanni (Rodney Krienke); son Sean Moy; step-grandchildren Maile Nichols (Max); Makaio Krienke (Ember); Marissa (Sean Northrup); and Melina Krienke; three step-great-grandchildren, Koa, Kalani and Kai; brother-in-law, Andy Huie and many numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 11:00 AM for the procession to his 1:00 PM graveside service at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery. For those that cannot attend in person, the family invites you to watch the services via Webcast, HERE.
